FALLS CHURCH, VA - June 3, 2019 - eSAT Global(TM), a new company that is developing the smartest way to connect millions of devices from space, announced today that it successfully tested its ultra-low power, two-way, low-latency narrowband communications system over a live Inmarsat Geosynchronous Mobile Satellite Services (GEO MSS) satellite.
The direct-to-satellite connectivity solution is built around eSAT’s patented inventions using existing and highly reliable GEO MSS satellite platforms. Designed from the ground up for Internet of Things (IoT) applications, the eSAT solution requires no terrestrial infrastructure or back-haul, while providing global coverage. IoT devices equipped with eSAT communications modules directly communicate with GEO MSS satellites at a transmit power level comparable to that of a car key fob, enabling years of operation on a single battery. Due to eSAT’s breakthrough innovations, over 100 million terminal devices can be supported by the eSAT system.
“It’s exciting to have verified our products on Inmarsat’s 4F3 satellite with results exceeding expectations.” said Michael Parr, founder, CEO and Chief Technology Officer for eSAT Global. “Having achieved this milestone, eSAT will accelerate the development of its full system capability including the industry’s lowest power communications module and lowest cost data service”.
With its patented protocol designed for efficient use of satellite resources, eSAT technology enables the lowest cost for multiple modes of operations such as sensing, tracking, alarm reporting and command and control. Latency below two seconds is supported for time-sensitive applications, and this unique combination of low cost, extremely low latency, and global coverage is not matched by any other existing or proposed IoT connectivity solution, including the many proposed Low Earth Orbit or LEO satellite systems.
“I’m gratified to head the only company capable of demonstrating the benefits of a GEO MSS solution versus the hype of various LEO and CubeSat startups,” said Parr. “Our technology is already proven today with features competitors won’t come close to in their future systems”.
“It’s amazing what eSAT has accomplished in such a short period of time. We welcome eSAT's entry into this terrific market leveraging Inmarsat's fleet of GEO MSS satellites.” said Lawrence Paul, Vice President Corporate Business Development for Inmarsat.
eSAT is working with ecosystem partners to deploy solutions to millions of devices in vertical markets including power distribution, border and perimeter security, oil and gas, smart agriculture, transportation, and maritime.
